10 Steps for planning a trip

One of the parts of the trip is its planning. Those weeks or months in which you are looking for information, you read forums, websites, guides and you go crazy trying to decide which places to visit, this part is super enjoyable and special. That’s why today I am sharing important 10 steps for planning your trip.

There are some primary steps for planning a trip and make it successful. After organizing a few, I suggest you the steps that, more or less, I follow when it comes to organizing and planning a trip on my own.

1. Choose few destinations

To begin planning a trip it is essential to have at least the notion of the place you would like to visit. By recommendation, by watching a program, by someone who tells you, by a photo … there are thousands of ways to choose a destination and another is to take the adventure and ask yourself, and why not? It is not necessary that in the first instance you close to only one option; the best thing is that you are open to several destinations and that according to your tastes and money you choose the most convenient one. For the same reason, it is also important that you pay attention to the offers that circulate in the network because at any moment you could find that dream promotion.

2. Build the budget

One of the most important points when making the decision to travel is to see if you have enough money to do so. After this you want to ask yourself  whether you want to travel alone or with a partner, because, although the costs between two or more people are cheaper, it is also good to have a prior saving to pay-hopefully-most of the trip, to not have so many debts on the way back. Also, when looking at this item it is good to determine how many days you would like to stay and calculate how much it would cost and keep some money as backup

3. Choose accommodation

This aspect must be considered from the beginning since it is one of the most important factors in terms of security and budget variability. If you go to sleep in campsites, this will cost less, but if your idea is to stay in different hotels, it is best to reserve a room and see what amenities it offers, such as the number of meals or tours included, etc.

4. Activate your cards

If you are going abroad, it is important that you notify your bank that you will travel to a certain country, so that you can make transactions there and not block your cards on suspicion.

Most cards have bonuses of up to 50,000 points, depending on minimum expenses, often 1,000 dollars over a period of three months.

Maximize your current expenses with credit cards, in order to earn bonuses that make you cheaper airfare, accommodation, rent a car and other expenses.

Another option is to join a bank that does not charge fees for the use of ATMs and other fees. To get these benefits, you can join a bank belonging to the Global ATM Alliance.

5. Have your documents up to date

If your destination is in the northern hemisphere, Europe or any other continent you need to have a passport. To get it out you must go to the nearest Passport office (it is best to go very early in the morning to ensure your attention) and get it out at least a month in advance because it takes two to three weeks to deliver it. Along with this, find out in the consulate of the country that you are going to visit if you must get some vaccine to travel.

6. Take out travel insurance

It is a very natural tendency for most perfectly healthy people to think that they do not need insurance to travel, but these policies can cover eventualities far beyond health, such as loss of luggage, cancellation of flights, theft of articles personal or an unexpected return home.

Travel insurance is cheap precisely because it only covers the risks for an extremely short period of time, compared to the life expectancy of the traveler.

During a trip, the risks increase and a foreign country is not a place where you will feel like a fish in the water in case of an unpleasant event. So the best thing is that you buy your travel insurance; It only costs a few dollars a day.

7. Carry a good baggage

Don’t think you will occupy everything you have at home, however it never happens. While it is better than clothing, to what is missing, do not let yourself be carried away and take only what you will use. Get some underwear, a pair of jeans or pants, some shorts and several dresses if you go to a hot area. Do not forget the sandals, sunscreen, insect repellent, personal hygiene supplies and medicines you take.

8. Research properly

It is always good to have a general idea of the place you will visit : from the most important points you have to know, handle the conversion of money, have at least a notion of the language (if it is not English), of the customs of that place and of course how to move in each city, either by public transport or on foot.

10. Prepare your activity plan

Your dream adventure in Paris or in any foreign destination deserves the best plan. Outline the main attractions you want to visit and the activities you want to enjoy, assigning them an approximate cost.

Make last-minute budget adjustments to make sure you do not miss out on anything you consider essential and intensify the savings plan if necessary.

At this point in the movie, you may come to the conclusion that only saving may not be enough. But it is not time to get discouraged, but to consider some other option to get money.

Congratulations for reaching the end of this long note! I hope that everything, or at least part of what I have told you, will help you when planning a trip, and I hope it was not too long and heavy!
